Winter Breathe Easy – Five-Herb Herbal Tincture Blend

Winter Breathe Easy, a carefully thought out herbal tincture blend combining five traditional botanicals: Echinacea, Thyme, Elecampane, Liquorice and Ginger.

This distinctive combination brings together five well-known herbs in one convenient liquid preparation. Each herbal tincture has its own history of use in traditional herbal practice, with a complementary range of properties.

Prepared by me, this blend reflects my commitment to quality herbal preparations and traditional tincture-making methods.

Five carefully selected herbs

This herbal tincture formula contains:

• Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) root – a widely recognised botanical with a long history in Western herbal medicine and a good evidence base for it’s effectiveness in supporting wellbeing.
• Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) – a medicinal herb with a long history of use in supporting the respiratory system.
• Elecampane (Inula helenium) root – a herb traditionally used for coughs.
• Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) root – a naturally sweet root with a long history of use in both Western and Chinese  herbal medicine.  Traditionally thought of as soothing and expectorant.
• Ginger (Zingiber officinale) root – a warming aromatic root used throughout the world.

Traditional herbal tincture preparation

We use traditional hydro-ethanolic percolation to prepare our individual herbal tinctures, using a ratio of one part herb to three parts extraction liquid (1:3). The extraction liquid consists of 55% water and 45% sugar beet-derived alcohol. Combining the individual tinctures creates a convenient liquid herbal preparation that is easy to measure and dilute in water.

Ingredients: Herbal tinctures of Echinacea purpurea root, Thyme, Elderflower, Elecampane, Sage, Liquorice root, Eucalyptus, and Ginger root.  The tinctures in this mix are made in the traditional way, by hydro-ethanolic percolation with a ratio of one part herb to three parts liquid.  The liquid is 55% water and 45% sugar beet derived alcohol.

Adult dose: 5ml in a little water 3 or 4 x daily when needed.

Children over 5 years old: 2.5ml in a little water 2 or 3 x daily when needed.
