I stock a wide range of high quality herbal tinctures. I have over 100 different herbal tinctures in my dispensary. Only some of the ones I stock are listed here. If you require a tincture which isn’t listed below, please send me a message here.
Why take herbal tinctures?
Herbal tinctures offer a convenient way to take herbal medicines. You only need small doses to get a medicinal effect, typically between 1ml and 3ml once or twice daily; tinctures can be stored for up to eighteen months before they begin to lose strength.
About my tinctures
All my tinctures are sourced from small, independent, UK based suppliers. Most of the herbs used to make the tinctures are grown in the UK. Some herbs do not grow here, and those sourced from abroad come from carefully vetted suppliers. All batches of each tincture are tested for quality and purity.
How are herbal tinctures made?
Tinctures are a traditional way to take herbal medicines, and have been made in the same way for hundreds of years. The herb material is soaked in a combination of alcohol (derived from sugar beet) and water. The alcohol draws the medicinal properties of the plant into the liquid. Then the mixture is strained under pressure, and the resulting liquid is the tincture which is bottled.
By buying from this shop you are supporting a small, independent, UK business. I strive to make herbal medicines affordable to all. By supporting my shop you are also allowing me to continue to serve low income individuals, and families, with one to one consultations and high quality herbal medicines when they need it.
All products are sourced from small, independent, UK based companies. I choose companies who have fully traceable supply sources, and who test each batch of plant material for quality and contaminants.
Organic herbal teas are a wonderful way to bring the healing and nourishing properties of plants into your everyday life. Loose teas are much higher in quality, and therefore in healing properties than tea bags. Enjoy daily. My aim is to make high quality organic herbal tea as affordable as possible. My prices compare to those of big international companies with huge buying power. I do this by keeping my packaging simple, margins very small, and not spending any money on marketing or promotion.
Tinctures are a traditional way to take herbal medicines and have been in use for hundreds of years. Herbal tinctures are made by steeping medicinal herbs in an alcohol and water based solution. The alcohol draws the active ingredients out of the plant material into the liquid to create a potent herbal remedy. After some time the herb and liquid solution is strained, and the resultant tincture is bottled.
The ratio of herb material to liquid tells you how strong a tincture is. Most of the tinctures I sell are one part herb to three parts liquid, this is denoted by 1:3. I sell some fluid extracts which are stronger, they are one part herb to one part liquid, denoted 1:1. I also stock some 1:2 strength tinctures, stronger than one in three, but not as strong as fluid extracts. Other companies often sell tinctures which are one part herb to four or even five parts liquid. I personally think these preparations are not strong enough, I prefer to sell higher strength tinctures for better efficacy.
The tinctures I stock are made from dried herb material. This is because research indicates that the active medicinal properties of the plant are much better preserved in tinctures made from dried herb material than those made from fresh herb material.
Tinctures give you a concentrated dose of a medicinal herb, they have powerful effects and only need to be taken in small doses. I have a wide range in stock, if you don't see what you want on the herbal tinctures page, please contact me directly.
I have created a range of high quality natural creams which can be used as part of your daily skin care routine, or to help with specific skin conditions. The creams contain the minimum of preservatives and no artificial scents. The essential oils used in the creams are organic. Because the creams are made from natural ingredients they are best used within one year of purchase.
