Herbal Medicine
Treatment by a Professional Medical Herbalist
Professional, evidence‑informed herbal care
I am a fully qualified Medical Herbalist with over 25 years’ clinical experience. I completed a four‑year, full‑time degree in Herbal Medicine, with training comparable in depth to conventional medical education.
In practice, I use the same diagnostic framework as orthodox medical practitioners, alongside functional medicine testing where appropriate. This allows me to build a clear, accurate picture of your health and to work safely and effectively alongside conventional medical care.
At your consultation, I take a thorough medical, dietary and lifestyle history, so I can understand both your current symptoms and the deeper patterns influencing your health.
A functional, whole‑person approach
My approach is rooted in functional medicine – treating you as a whole person rather than a set of isolated symptoms.
Together, we explore:
- How your body systems interact
- The underlying causes of ill health
- Factors such as stress, digestion, hormones, immunity, nutrition and lifestyle
I then prescribe plant‑based herbal medicines that work with your body’s own healing processes, supporting long‑term recovery as well as symptom relief.
Safety and integration with conventional medicine
When prescribed by a fully qualified Medical Herbalist, herbal medicines can be used safely alongside conventional drugs.
I have detailed, up‑to‑date knowledge of:
- Herb–drug interactions
- Supplement safety
- Appropriate dosing and monitoring
Your safety is always central to your treatment plan.

The Herbal Consultation
Initial consultation
Your first consultation is unhurried and lasts approximately one hour.
During this appointment I will:
- Take a detailed medical history
- Explore your diet and lifestyle
- Check your blood pressure
- Carry out a physical examination if necessary
You will receive clear, practical advice on diet, supplements and lifestyle to support your treatment.
At the end of the consultation, I usually select four to seven individual herbal tinctures, combining them into one bespoke medicine created specifically for you. The typical dosage is 7.5ml twice daily. I use organic herbal tinctures wherever possible.
Follow‑up consultations
Follow‑up appointments allow us to:
- Review your progress
- Support and refine dietary and lifestyle changes
